Ryne Johnson is the President of Astoria, LLC based in Richmond, Virginia. Astoria is a tax credit consulting firm concentrating in low-income housing tax credit multi-family development consulting and VHDA multi-family loans
Ryne Johnson spent nine years with the Virginia Housing Development Authority (VHDA), first as an asset manager managing $170 million in multifamily loans and then as a tax credit allocation officer and senior tax credit allocation officer where he reviewed tax credit allocation for 9% competitive and 4% tax-exempt programs. He initiated and led the development of market study guidelines for the authority’s LIHTC program. Ryne left VHDA to serve as Vice President of acquisitions in the Mid-Atlantic region for a major tax credit syndicator where he analyzed and acquired LIHTC properties for the company’s syndication portfolio. He has spoken nationally at industry meetings of the National Council of State Housing Associations (NCSHA) and the National Council of Affordable Housing Market Analysts. Mr. Johnson is also an annual lecturer at the University Of Virginia School Of Law. He also speaks on a panel at the Virginia Governor’s Housing Conference each year. Prior to VHDA, Mr. Johnson worked in the private sector as Vice President of Management for Community Resources a property management and development consulting firm. Mr. Johnson worked for two real estate development companies; Investors Management Group, LTD and Tricor Development as a Project Coordinator. Mr. Johnson holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University and an active real estate license in the state of Virginia.
